Unlike many professional athletes, Fournier was quite accomplished with his academics. The 40-year-old studied human biology and sports science at St. Mary’s University.

After suffering from a scaphoid injury, Joe retired from playing basketball. Soon after, he set up his own gym where he took the roles of a trainer, PR, and cleaner. Eventually, Fournier ended up selling his fitness business and studios to an FTSE 100 company in 2012. After selling his fitness business, Joe subsequently moved to invest in the nightclub industry.

As per Metro.co.uk, Fournier owns Whisky Mist, The Rose Club, Bonbonniere London, and Streaky Gin. Very recently, Fournier opened Bonbonniere Mykonos. As of now, he splits his time between London and Miami.

Is Joe Fournier a billionaire?

The pop culture realm refers to Joe as the “Billionaire Boxer,” however, it remains unclear whether or not Fournier is a billionaire as of yet. Previously, Forbes did confirm back in 2017 that the 40-year-old is a multi-millionaire, with a Joe Fournier’s Net Worth amassing $109 million.

Apparently, much of Joe’s early wealth came from playing basketball just out of high school in the States. However, the money didn’t last long as his spending habits became out of control. While speaking to Forbes, Joe said, “With my first £150K contract, I bought £100K Ferrari.”

Making the jump to the fitness industry did help the professional boxer turn things around. Close friends know Joe for his social skills as much as his entrepreneurial expertise. He’s had a client list of A-listers including Prince Harry, Prince William, Jay Z, Beyonce, and Kim Kardashian, to name a few.

To top this, Joe’s friendly relations with the royal family helped him gain a better standing in the UK and Europe socialite groups. Fournier’s influence grew in the States as well, with newly made friends including 50 Cent, Paris Hilton, Gwyneth Paltrow, and many more.

In an interview with Skysports, Joe said, “Predominantly my businesses are bars, clubs, and restaurants in all the fun places.” While speaking to Business Insider, he elaborated, “It’s really difficult to get people to do lunges and eat salad, but it was easy getting people to get pissed, drink gin and tonic, party, and eat pizza.”

Fournier has tried to diversify his portfolio by getting his feet wet in the real estate industry. Purportedly, he has also invested in the stock market, which has believed to increase his net worth exponentially. Regardless of whether he is a billionaire or not, it is undeniable that Joe is certainly a unique individual.

Fournier’s boxing record

Joe Fournier made his professional boxing debut in 2015 winning back-to-back matches. Despite stepping inside the squared circle late, Joe has found tremendous success with his boxing career. Born on 23 January 1983, Joe became a top name in the fitness industry. The entrepreneur-turned-boxer signed with Hayemaker Promotions to kickstart his career.

The 40-year-old made his pro boxing debut against Jorge Burgos with a TKO victory. Joe has competed in 10 matches, winning 9 of them via knockouts, and a 2016 bout ruled to NC, as per boxrec.com. In December, Fournier was on a yacht in Miami when he chose to step in as a last-minute replacement to face Wilmer Mejia.

Fournier locked horns with Mejia in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Joe won the bout via knockout in the eighth round, winning the vacant WBA international light heavyweight title in the process. This allowed the British native to place himself at #11 in the rankings.

Despite never tasting defeat in his professional career, Fournier lost a fight against two-time world champion David Haye. The exhibition match happened in September 2021 where he lost via unanimous decision. The bout came into existence after a disagreement between the pair, with Joe telling David Haye he could beat him in the ring. Despite the outcome, the two remain good friends.
