Deontay Wilder has asserted that he has a harder punch than Mike Tyson, despite Tyson’s record of first-round knockouts as a heavyweight legend.
Deontay Wilder, who has not fought in several months and is currently waiting for news on his next fight, made a quick comeback last year when he defeated Robert Helenius in one round. Known for his explosive punching power, he has an impressive record of 42 knockouts in his 43 professional wins. Wilder recently spoke to Mike Tyson and shared his thoughts on the evolution of boxing and how the new generation is supposed to surpass the old generation to signify progress and growth.
“The key to success in this world is timing, patience, and making good decisions. If you’re not growing and evolving, then you’re falling behind, and becoming part of the issue we’re trying to solve. I told Mike that he paved the way for me, just like Muhammad Ali paved the way for him, and I’m paving the way for those who come after me.”
Wilder has a reputation for his formidable punching power, having knocked out 42 of his 43 professional opponents. He even famously dropped Tyson Fury with a vicious right hand in their first bout, although Fury managed to get back up. His power is widely regarded as one of the most challenging in the heavyweight division, placing him in discussions with the likes of Tyson and George Foreman as one of the hardest hitters of all time.
After contemplating retirement, Deontay Wilder is now planning to make a comeback and regain his position as a top heavyweight boxer. His potential opponents include Francis Ngannou, another strong puncher who was previously a UFC champion, and his long-time rival Tyson Fury, who is now ranked number one by the WBC for a possible title match.
