HotCars artist Timothy Adry Emmanuel designs an S650 Mustang crossover render that could send the Ford Bronco back to the stable.
The off-road crossover SUV market is an ever-expanding one with no signs of slowing down, especially for the U.S. market. But despite the increasing number of models getting released in this bracket, there aren’t that many that are truly efficient in actual off-road scenarios. Ford is one of the few manufacturers that takes real-world performance seriously with their crossovers, specifically with their Raptor models.
While the Ford Bronco is a highly capable off-road crossover, HotCars digital artist, Timothy Adry Emmanuel believes Ford could be a bit more ambitious in 2024. He has delivered a set of eye-catching renders featuring a Raptor version of the 2024 Ford Mustang that could send even the Bronco Raptor running back to the stable.
The front fascia is recognizable as a Mustang, but there are many reinforced elements around the grille and undercarriage. This SUV features a bolstered front bumper containing extra spotlights and front tow hooks. The Mustang hood vents remain but the overall form of the hood hints at a vehicle capable of handling some rough treatment.
Much of the greenhouse layout remains from the modern Mustang car, but there is a distinct wide-body approach here, with angular door design, and prominent fender flares and skirting. Timothy has also given this fantasy crossover SUV black forged-aluminum beadlock-capable wheels skinned with off-road tires.
At the rear end, there is a combination of features from the Mustang, such as the signature tail lights and diffuser. Timothy then implements elements more suited to the Raptor series, including 2 rear doors and a different spoiler.
What Powers Our Ford Mustang Raptor Digital Concept?
The powertrain of this fantasy crossover is up to the imagination but Ford has many engine options that could suit this type of vehicle. The base engine would likely be the turbocharged Ecoboost V6 from the base F-150 Raptor with at least 450 hp.
Following this same trend, a top-of-the-line Ford Mustang Raptor R crossover would receive the awesome 5.2-liter supercharged V8 from the F-150 Raptor R. With 700 hp on tap, it could easily dominate the crossover off-road SUV scene in 2024.
Is Ford Making A Mustang Raptor?
Despite the S650 Mustang being a new offering from Ford, there have already been several variants announced. In addition to the standard EcoBoost and GT models, Ford is unleashing the 500-hp Dark Horse Mustang for 2024. The aftermarket is also getting its feet wet as we recently got a look at the new 2024 Ford Mustang RTR. There will likely be more editions in the coming years and many gearheads around the world are eagerly awaiting Shelby’s take on the new Mustang.
With that in mind, Ford making a Mustang Raptor is only a rumor at this point. However, with the market moving towards more SUVs and crossovers, a Ford Mustang Raptor SUV like the one from HotCars digital artist Timothy Adry Emmanuel wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility especially when you consider the Ford Mustang Mach-E already exists.
