It looks sleek, but is that enough to guarantee success?
Volkswagen has released official photos of its first all-electric wagon, the ID.7 Tourer. We’ve spotted the long-roof ID.7 before, but the German automaker still refuses to reveal its final form, as the prototype comes with an autumn-themed camouflage with hidden QR codes designed to encourage digital interaction.
Volkswagen AGApart from the images, VW has also disclosed some information about its upcoming ID.7 Tourer. It has a drag coefficient of 0.24, which is quite close to the standard ID.7’s 0.23, VW’s most aerodynamic EV so far. That said, we can expect the wagon version to have a similar range to the sedan version.
The ID.7 Tourer benefits from the modular MEB platform it shares with the sedan, allowing short overhangs and long wheelbase configuration – beneficial for interior space.
And there’s a lot of it in the ID.7 Tourer. It has a trunk space of up to 19.2 cubic feet loaded up to the height of the rear seat backrest. This trunk space more than triples if the second row is folded down, with up to 60.5 ft3 of area. Aside from this, the new model also has a loading area that’s nearly 6.7 feet in length – a lot of room to carry longer items.
There are no interior photos available for the Tourer model, but it will likely come with the supremely comfy seats seen in its sedan sibling, made in collaboration with orthopedic specialists.
